About the Role

Somaticore is building a suite of cognitive training games grounded in neuroscience research. We’re looking for a part-time Game Developer based in Toronto to help design, build, and ship mobile games using Unity.

You’ll work closely with our product and research teams to translate cognitive training protocols into engaging, well-engineered game experiences. This is a hybrid role with flexible hours — we care about the work, not the schedule.

This position is open until filled. We review applications on a rolling basis.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain mobile games using Unity (iOS and Android).
  • Implement in-app purchase flows and monetization features (Apple StoreKit, Google Play Billing).
  • Collaborate with product and design to prototype and iterate on new game mechanics.
  • Integrate game analytics and event tracking to support research and product decisions.
  • Optimize game performance for mobile devices across a range of hardware.
  • Contribute to technical architecture decisions for the games platform.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Unity and C#.
  • Experience shipping mobile games on iOS and/or Android.
  • Familiarity with in-app purchase systems.
  • Strong understanding of mobile performance constraints.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a small, async-friendly team.
  • Based in Toronto with availability for occasional in-person collaboration.
  • A genuine interest in psychology, cognitive science, or neuroscience is a strong asset.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with therapeutic or educational game design.
  • Familiarity with cognitive load theory or gamification research.
  • Previous work at a health-tech or edtech company.
